Plants that favour its grow are broad-leaved and coniferous trees, therefore pines, beeches and downy oaks. It never reaches large dimensions, at most it can weigh between 40-50 grams. The internal part, called gleba, is initially whitish then become tawny and then purplish brown. The external part, called peridium, is smooth, dirty white in the younger specimen and takes on darker tone with rusty spots at riping.
